A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with Tanacetum parthenium by ES Johnson et al. in the British Journal of Medicine showed that it:

  • Reduced migraine attacks by more than 50%
  • Decreased nausea and vomiting associated with migraine attacks from 79% to 42%
  • Was considered "moderately good," "good" or "excellent" by significantly more patients 
  • Had no reported side effects

Another double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled crossover study with Tanacetum parthenium published in Phytotherapy Research in 1997 demonstrated that it:

  • Significantly reduced migraine pain intensity vs. placebo
  • Reduced migraine sufferers' sensitivity to light from 75% to 12.5%
  • Reduced migraine sufferers' sensitivity to noise from 61% to 10%
